Apple Trees and Snow

At last I hear you say, finally, some news about summer arts events!

Apologies for the lack of recent communication, lots of other stuff going on, and I'm very easily distracted...

So, the county-wide wonder that is Warwickshire Open Studios is underway, and once again you'll find me back at St Gregory's in Offchurch, venue 117 in your Open Studios brochure. If you haven't managed to get your hands on one yet, check out the website at warwickshireopenstudios.org. There are supplies of the brochures at many places and they will happily point you in the right direction.

At Offchurch, we consider ourselves very lucky to be able to exhibit in this beautiful, historic church, filling it every year not only with a glorious array of artwork, but also with flowers, light, colour and music. And cake of course... And Colin's legendary flapjacks! Now all we need is some sunshine!

Opening times: Monday - Saturday 10.30am -5pm

Sunday 12 -5pm

We'll be there until 30th June.

The Espalier Apple pictured above is my most recent painting and also the largest in the exhibition. It was inspired by the espalier apple tree at National Trust Charlecote Park, I just love the sculptural quality of these trees and the contrast between the delicate blossoms and the crusty old lichen.

Also centre stage at Offchurch is Snow on the Tops. A departure from the florals, this snowy landscape is the first of a series inspired by a very cold, but exceedingly beautiful trip to the Yorkshire Dales at the beginning of February. I loved this scene so much, I painted it twice, this one and a larger version that is currently on the easel in the church awaiting the finishing touches.

So there you have it, the apple tree and the snow. They're both on display in my own little area in the chancel, along with a host of other paintings, cushions, cards and prints, all welcoming visitors to Warwickshire Open Studios at Offchurch. See you there!

Ps My next event will be Art in the Park the 3rd and 4th August. This year, I'll be in one of the Leamington Studio Artists marquees. Do pop in and say hello.
