The first 2024 Workshops
A golden carpet of Winter Aconites at Compton Verney
Beginners Taster Workshop
Wednesday 7th February 10.30am - 1pm
Confirmation of this date is subject to a minimum of three people.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners or for those looking for a refresher of the basics.
Using a combination of demonstrations and exercises this two and a half hour session will include:
- An introduction to the different types of watercolour paper and paint
- How to stretch paper to avoid buckling
- Mastering a basic colour wash
- An introduction to wet-in-wet techniques
There will then be plenty of time to put these techniques into practice so that a finished piece can be taken home.
All workshops are limited to 6 people

Suitable for those who already have some experience of watercolour painting.
Saturday 3rd February 10.30 - 3pm Winter Flowering Bulbs
Snowdrops, crocus, daffodils, aconites - we will explore different techniques for capturing the unexpected beauty of these winter wonders.
Saturday 24th February 10.30 - 3pm Winter Landscapes
Exploring a winter palette through painting snowy landscapes, bare trees, low, reflected light.
Full day - there will be 2 x two hour sessions with a break for lunch.
Bring your own lunch - drinks and homemade cake provided, plus bundles of inspiration!
What you need to know for ALL CLASSES:
Demonstration and guided exercises will be used, there will be plentiful inspiration in the form of foliage, flowers, photos etc, and you will leave with a finished (hopefully!) piece.
Cost to include basic materials, but feel free to supplement these with your own.
Each workshop will be limited to 6 people
