Warwickshire is a beautiful county, but I am also lucky enough to spend nearly half of the year in the South of France, so it is natural that the extraordinary light and colours of this part of the world have a way of working themselves into every brush stroke. Many, many artists, artists of great talent and international fame, have fallen in love with the area and with the quality of the light, and I am no exception!
I discovered watercolour after we began spending so much time in France. A weekly class where the teacher was 'trés sympatique' and a great admirer of the english watercolourists - she led us through exploratory exercises and encouraged me to experiment. I have always loved the slightly random effects that happen with watercolour, so I can happily play around with colours and water for hours on end.
I also have a background in sewing, and a keen interest in a variety of crafts. Largely as a result of this, I am part of a collective of 'makers' called Love Handmade Fairs who organise and run regular events in Warwick and around the area.
